Through our existing relationship with Northampton General Hospital, we were made aware of Learning Disabilities in Duston and the help they needed. The Centre cares for children upto the age of 17 with severe disabilities and life limiting illnesses.
One area of the garden was inaccessible to the children due to 5 tonnes of gravel. Our job was to remove this gravel and create a sensory garden so the children would be able to see, feel, and touch things that they had been unable to previously.
We are indebted to the very generous donations from many local and UK wide businesses. Without their support we would not have been able to create the garden we did. Thank you very much the following companies;- Wickes, Herongate, Homebase, DHL, Dobbies Garden Centre, Poddingtons Garden Centre, Fitness Sports & Onlineturf.co.uk.
A special mention also to Barbara Head (and Michael) of Acres Garden Maintenance for volunteering their services and provided much needed technical guidance and equipment on the day.
Below are a few memories and photos of the day. Please keep a look out for our next Community Project. We could be coming to a town near you.
